I am hoping to order today by express post from OOAK and get the equipment either today or on Saturday (fingers crossed).

I have about 3 years of experience playing when I was in school and at university. I had a prety crappy bat and rubber but I became fairly good. However, I didn't become good enough to develop a strong style but if I had to say I would say I am a defensive player.

Anyway, I want a good quality and all round blade and some rubbers (same thickness both sides) that will allow me to get my skills back up and figure out what kind of player I am.

BTW, I bought a Butterfly VSG-FL when I was living in Japan (now in Melbourne) but have decided not to use it because the handle is not long enough. I suspect that this is because the blade is marketed at Japanese hands which are on average smaller than Australian hands. But if this isn't the case, I guess I need something with a fairly long handle.. :)

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum thermal!

I would suggest going for a cheaper but decent quality Chinese setup. Something like the galaxy N10 with 729 lightening rubbers. That can do most things quite well, and still has decent speed.

PS This section is not really for shop related issues (see shop section at the bottom), but if you order from the shop today, it still takes time to confirm the payment (although immediate via paypal/credit card) and it still takes time to make up the bat. So earliest it would be sent off would be tomorrow, and Aus Post does not deliver on saturday :(

mmm
I don't recall the VSG blades having a shorter handle than the norm...

Pretty much all handles you can buy are 100mm...
