This was posted in another forum by "Robjkc". Looks usefull for lefthanders. Also right handers for the slow-motion capability. :D

I recently discovered a great way to train using video.

If you're like me you probably have a lot of table tennis videos and like to run them in slow motion to see what the pros are doing. Well, being left handed I always have to do the reverse unless I'm watching another lefty like Timo Boll.

Now, I've found a way to watch the videos so that the right handed player plays left handed or visa versa just like you were watching it in a mirror.

Now I can watch and study a left handed Waldner.

To do this, download VLC media player. Once you run the program click "Tools"->"Extended Settings" from the menu. Then click "Video Effects" tab and then click the "Basic" tab". Click the "Transform" checkbox and select "Flip horizontally". Then open your video and walla, they are playing with their opposite hand.

Also, another tip while watching the video is that you can press the minus (-) key one or more times to slow down the video and the plus (+) key one or more times to speed it up.

Plain genius! I'm a lefty myself and used the method. It's amazing how natural it all looks. I just saw a part of Joo - Liqin by using this method. You learn many things you don't see when they play righthanded, probably because you can relate to their body movements being both lefthanded. Interesting would be to see Joo - Boll next : right - and lefthanded become left - and righthanded. :D

I have VLC 0.9.8a and can't find these -,+ buttons to make playback faster or slower. How you get it?

The plus and minus button refer to the keys on your keyboard, not an icon on the player itself. VLC seems to use quite a few "keyboard" short cuts.
