The ITTV video page ( http://www.ittf.com/_front_page/itTV.asp?category=ittv_New ) has a number of Amelie Solja's games from the World Junior Championships in Madrid, Spain. I read she was using the Dr. Neubauer Gorilla anti.

It all depends on how good she becomes. I guess if she is getting too good, then everybody will complaint, then, ITTF under all kind of pressure as the frictionless pips, will ban anti, and SpeedPlay will have no rubbers to use.

I don't think it's got anything to do with how good she or anyone gets it's more the style of play allowed. How many top players used frictionless?

It's seems to be a lower level ban that the ITTF (an international body) has banned. Adham's comments in the ITTF thread "The national associations found it important to set a minimum friction level so as not to have total slippery rubbers that would be deemed, in their opinion, DETRIMENTAL to the sport".

thanks a lot MNNB! I watched SOLJA´s match with LEE Hyun. Quite impressing: Some attempts of looping the "2nd" ball by the Korean girl found their way into the net - due to spin reversal. So in some cases the Anti (obviously Gorilla) really created some trouble for the opponent. But also a few typical 'unforced errors' by using this rubber can be seen. Very interesting! Antis are quite rare at World Championships, thank you!

loved watching this, thanks. Looks like she has switched to a balsa blade?? Certainly a different sound when she attacks. Looking at the way the ball moves on her f/h I'd also guess she's changed the fh sps from leopard to something else. Those attacks certainly seem to have more bite. She's making (obviously) no attempt anymore to vary spin on the blocks.
