I received the new Dr Neubauer DVD this week. It's more comprehensive than the previous DVD and covers anti, long pimples, half-long pimples, short pimples and reversed rubbers.

No case this time. The disc comes in a white paper sleeve. You can listen to the audio in German, English and French. The DVD consists of 50+ short clips of techniques using the different rubbers. Each clip opens with an audio explanation and real time demonstration followed by slow motion. Often multiple angles are shown.

For anti, there are twelve clips of techniques for the backhand, eight clips for the forehand, and five clips for service return.

For long pips, there are eleven clips of techniques for the backhand, six clips for the forehand, and four clips for service return.

For half-long pips there are seven clips.

For short pips there are four clips (all from the previous DVD).

For defensive reversed rubber, there are two clips.

This time there is no game footage showing the techniques in action and I found it aggravating that the actual blade and rubbers being used for the various techniques wasn't divulged.

On the other hand, I particularly liked the serve return tips (to me worth the price of the DVD for that alone). By the way Gorilla users, The Doc tells you to pull the blade back at impact when blocking topspin.

Overall, if you play with LP or anti and want to improve, I'd say this DVD is inexpensive enough and informative enough to be worth looking at. I know I've personally gotten something out of it.

I still hate Gorilla, though.

Anybody who tells me gorilla is a substitute for superblock loses a lot of credibility in anything else they say!
