A few chops, reverse chops, 1 reverse topspin, long topspin, short topspin, float and short down the line serves in that order (roughly).

I seem to need to perfect my long topspin after seeing the placements of yours...I think those would be particularly nasty for the unwary.

Service practice is always worthwhile. I just wish I had more time to do some. I just catch 5 mins here and there when I take Fred out to practice.

nice serves! I've managed to practice my serves a bit more this past year than I normally do, and I can really see the difference in games.

One serve I haven't mastered (or really tried to master) is the reverse pendulum. Would you say that this is a worthwhile serve to learn? What are it's advantages?

That is an outstanding and consistant standard. This is a good example of a vid someone like me needs to examine frequently. I am about 1/5 of that right now. It looks like serve practice might be the only practice I get soon, so I hope to achieve even half of that by years end.

I like your long top spin serves, they almost always paint the end lines, tough to return.

BTW, your serves were very consistent and looked effortless, impressive. And you say you didn't practice much, just imagine you had more time.

One little comment, should you also practice to move to your ready position after every serve? I understand these are only serving practices, but it might be beneficial to practice the motion right after the serves too.

Hi Joo,
Reverse pendulum IS worth learning for a couple reasons.
One of coarse is another option.
Two, involves making a disguise for it. Not just top or bottom but the fact it is even coming.
When someone is obviously going to do a forhand serve, you can predict which side spin will probably be on there, same with a backhand serve, you KNOW before they even serve which sidespin will probably be on the ball.
If you can develope a pendulum serve where you change from a normal to reverse at the last second, it can cause difficulties for them. Some people are aware of which sidespin will be on most forhands or backhand serves, others read it with out any consious thought. The last second change will mess them up enough to make it worth learning.
I have the above reverse pendulum and another where my bat starts hidden behind my back. The fact it is going to be a reverse is not the key, it is that they don't know which side I will be using untill miliseconds before I contact the ball. Using a FAST serve from this works well. :D

good point, I didn't think of it that way...I guess I've just never played someone who uses this serve effectively yet. I'll start working on it :)

It is a good idea to practice getting in the ready position after serving and I do normally do that. It just looks so naff on video.

Your reverse pendulum serve does look very good... very smooth and effortless motion, well done!
